Image analysis is a key component for the success of Agfa’s digital radiography systems.
It is the responsibility of the job candidate to gain mastership in state-of-the art algorithms for various domains including image analysis, pattern recognition, image reconstruction and acquisition automation, and move it a next step ahead by continuously developing improvements and extensions, and conceiving next-generation and novel imaging applications.
As Researcher Medical Image Analysis you are responsible for:
Taking ownership of innovation-oriented image analysis projects, from feasibility study to the development of core components, in alignment with agreed project planning, available resources, regulatory policies and restrictions that may arise from patented technology.
Developing new, and continuously improving existing algorithms and core software components of advanced medical imaging products.
Consulting domain specialists and end-users, including radiologists.
Completing the development with reports, presentations and demos in support of other involved departments, including verification & validation, marketing, application, service and internal or external engineering centers.
Following up on scientific literature, patents and technical documents in relevant domains of expertise and secures proprietary know-how by filing patents.
Exploring novel technical concepts for product improvement and discussing proposals for innovation with other experts and stakeholders.
Developing a founded judgment about upcoming technologies and their relevance in perspective of our own developments in terms of quality, performance, cost and competitive advantage.
Being involved as an expert in image analysis and pattern recognition in all stages of the development process, in close cooperation with all stakeholders.
You are Master or PhD in biomedical engineering, computer science or electronics engineering, physics or mathematics.
You have successfully conducted one or more research projects in the domain of image processing (2D/3D), pattern and/or image recognition.
You have experience with designing and implementing complex algorithms.
You are an expert in image analysis, pattern recognition and/or related fields: data mining, image reconstruction, image transforms, segmentation techniques, image and/or surface registration.
You have knowledge of medical imaging and a basic knowledge of the healthcare environment and human anatomy.
You have an expert level in algorithmic development.
You are proficient in software analysis, design and development (C++, Java, C#, Design patterns).
You are familiar with Visual Studio, Eclipse, multi-threading, GPU programming (CUDA or OpenCL), Matlab, Mathematica, Excel, Python.
You have excellent analytic capabilities, you think visionary and out-of-the-box.
You are able to work autonomously, self-motivated, persevering, yet flexible enough to cope with changing circumstances.
You are pragmatic and efficient when faced with the task of mastering and improving a complex existing code base.
You are a loyal team-player.
You are fluent in Dutch and English (verbal and written communication).
