Mixed signal ASIC Architect

Key Responsibilities

In order to help Cochlear bring new products to market that help people with hearing loss, we are recruiting for a mixed signal ASIC Architect in our platform team.

In this role you will be the mixed signal ASIC architect and design authority for Cochlear's ASIC development in Belgium. You will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external key contacts to lead the development of custom integrated circuits for future product generations. This role is responsible for:

Understanding the needs of the different application teams within Cochlear (electrical, firmware, test, etc.)
Being responsible for the communication with these cross-functional development teams to develop chip architectures and requirements that provide a good partition between hardware, ASIC and software/firmware functions;
Documenting the chosen architecture and getting agreement of all stakeholders;
Liaising and developing positive working relationships with external ASIC vendors who will do the ASIC design.
Ensuring the ASIC vendors deliver the highest quality and on schedule;
Managing the ASIC vendors and communicating with them both at management and at technical level.
Ensuring high quality ASIC requirements, architecture and design documentation and working closely with the ASIC vendor to ensure optimal design trade-off decisions are made;
Developing, continuously improving and maintaining ASIC development processes and ASIC implementation and methodology best practice;
In this permanent role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Cochlear's successful history of innovation by applying your knowledge of mixed-signal IC design. You will have the opportunity to gain a broader knowledge of the design of Cochlear's system architecture.

Key Requirements

To add value to Cochlear in this role you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience in your application and at interview:

A scientific degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent by experience.
10+ years post-qualification design and development experience.
5+ years experience in analog and digital integrated circuit architecture development.
Experience in working with ASIC suppliers.
Demonstrated team leadership and people management skills combined with a drive for achievement and a superior focus on quality.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, as well as good knowledge of technical English.
