In order to help Cochlear bring new products to market that help people with hearing loss, we are recruiting for a Senior System Architect in our platform team.
In this permanent role you will be part of the system engineering team at the Cochlear Technology Centre in Belgium. You will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external key contacts in defining future product generations. You will make a significant contribution to Cochlear's successful history of innovation by applying your knowledge of system architecture and system engineering.
Work closely together with product stakeholders for the definition and high-level design of product features.
Build a holistic view on the software and firmware architecture of Cochlear's products, such that the system impact of design decisions is understood.
Work closely with the software (SW) and firmware (FW) teams to ensure streamlined product development making use of Cochlear's development processes. This includesPropose system design and elaborate it together with SW / FW teams,
Assess impact of product design decisions on SW / FW / hardware architecture and collaborate with teams to drive issues to solution,
Develop and manage system requirements,
Develop and manage system verification tests,
Develop and document system architecture, system design and system integration,
Ensure clear traceability from design inputs to design outputs and tests,
Monitor system issues and drive them to conclusion,
Ensure product development leads to a safe product, by overviewing all possible safety risks and associated risk controls, and coordinating efforts to detect the risks (FMEA - Fault Tree Analysis - Hazard Analysis).
Drive and contribute to product innovation by generating product design ideas / patents.
Drive and contribute to process innovation by continuous improvement of our internal processes and making them more lean and efficient.
Stay on top of changes to relevant standards and regulatory requirements, and translate them to product requirements and design input.
To add value to Cochlear in this role you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
A scientific degree in Software or Electronic Engineering or equivalent by experience.
Proven design and development experience (minimal 8 years)
Experience in embedded software and software for medical devices is a plus.
Previous system engineering or system architecture experience in embedded software (minimal 5 years).
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, as well as good knowledge of technical English.
Demonstrated team collaboration skills and experience in working together within an international environment.
