As Senior Packaging Lead you will be part of the Cargill group “Fats and Oils” organization which operates 30+ packaging plants worldwide, and with the intention to grow this number will increase in the next years. You will be working with the team of packaging experts (COE), supporting the plants in various applications. A lot of opportunities for improvements regarding technologies, use of packaging materials and organization structures have already been identified. This has to be continued in the future, representing one major task of the COE team. Various tools have been implemented and are available for plant operations and COE to achieving targets and identifying trends and gaps to be closed. This approach is under the productivity umbrella, where the COE team contributes to production excellence, increased competitiveness and customer satisfaction.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and quality improvements regarding packaging materials
•Avoid over dimensioning & unnecessary overspending in new projects
•Develop innovative and alternative solutions with internal and external customers
•Support the plant engineering teams and provide technical solutions corresponding to best practices
•Contribute in the definition of global standards, specifications and best practices
•Support the plant teams with the installation and start-up of new technologies
•Benchmarking of KPI’s with analyses of improvement opportunities
•Keep close contact with operations teams and regional COE’s
•Effective interaction with local and global sourcing teams (CAPEX and pack materials)
The COE engineer will typically not take the position of a project manager, however has the responsibility to define the right technology for the application (technology lead), this is done in alignment with the project team. Therefor the COE has a role to constantly follow latest evolutions in the design of packaging equipment, validating if it can be applied for new installations or the up-grade of existing equipment. COE has to make sure that all projects are executed according to Cargill requirements in terms of safety, food safety and contractual performances. Project support from ideation phase until start-up and commercialization is expected to be provided by the COE engineer.
Drivers for innovation can be of different nature, leading i.e. to higher performances, lower manufacturing cost, or helping our customers to be more successful in their market segment. The COE engineer proposes new potential solutions and helps implementing innovations in alignment with stake holders from different departments.
