Precision handling of loads and assemblies, using the overhead crane and other lifting and handling equipmentAssembly and installation of mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies on the instruments and neutron beam facilities
Maintenance, repairs and trouble-shooting on the experimental instruments
Preparatory operations: checking of parts (quantity and quality), study of plans, and preparation/improvisation of tools and resources
Production of parts as required using machine tools.
You may also be required to collaborate with the instrument teams on the maintenance and operation of their installations.
You could be required to join the service's on-call duty system.
This is a post within the Test Hall of the ILL's Mechanical Service of the Experimental Halls. You will be part of the team of ten responsible for the assembly and maintenance of the ILL's experimental instruments
The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, and founded by France, Germany and the United Kingdom, is Europe's leading neutron science facility. The ILL operates the brightest neutron source in the world, reliably delivering intense neutron beams to 40 experimental stations (known as “instruments”).
