You will join the ILL's Electricity and Electronics Service, which is responsible for the design and maintenance of the high-flux reactor’s instrumentation and control equipment. Working under the supervision of the Head of Service, your main duties will be to:
Manage projects to refurbish obsolete equipment or produce new equipment, and take part in maintenance operations
Upgrade the instrumentation and control equipment to ensure that it complies with new regulations, in particular with a view to the next ten-yearly reactor safety review to be carried out in 2017 (by the group of experts known as the “Groupe Permanent”)
Provide technicians with project management support
Ensure that the design, manufacturing and qualification guidelines for nuclear safety-critical I&C systems are applied both within the ILL and by our suppliers
Draft manufacturing specifications, monitor manufacturing and qualify I&C equipment and COTS components to verify that they satisfy requirements in terms of seismic resistance, EMC, functionalities, etc.
Manage the integration of I&C equipment into the high-flux reactor’s overall instrumentation and control system.
Once you have been given the necessary authorisation, you will be included in the Reactor Division engineers' on-call duty rota for the operation of the high-flux reactor.
Qualifications and experience:
You have a Master’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in electronics, electrical engineering or a similar discipline.
You have experience in the management of projects as well as in the application of nuclear and Quality Assurance standards in the area of instrumentation and control (RCCE (French construction and design code for electrical equipment) and/or IEC/SC45A standards: IEC 61513, 61226, etc.).
You are able to monitor the manufacturing of equipment subject to quality control and are familiar with the qualification testing of the critical systems needed to guarantee the nuclear safety of the high-flux reactor (seismic resistance, EMC, electrical testing, etc.).
You have a “hand-on”, meticulous and pragmatic approach to your work; you are a team player known for your ability to manage your time and priorities in order to meet project deadlines.
As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. You must have a sound knowledge of English and speak or be willing to learn French (a language course will be paid for by the ILL). Knowledge of German would be an advantage.
This post is permanent.
